Today is Palmetto Giving Day
A cool event that propels Grand Strand non-profits to make a bigger impact
Today is Palmetto Giving Day, a 2-day Georgetown donation drive that does a LOT of good in Georgetown County.
The Frances P. Bunnelle Foundation heads up this event, and WOW - it has rallied residents to donate to make our community a better place. Last year, thousands of donors contributed to their favorite local non-profits, raising over $3.5 million during the 36-hour event for 82 organizations.
That’s crazy! and amazing! and uplifting!
So what does that mean for Grand Strand locals?
It means Smith Medical Clinic can continue to serve the neediest in our community that can’t afford regular doctor’s visits.
It means parents in our community can work because they can afford the YMCA Afterschool and summer camp programs for their kids.
It means Freedom Readers can continue teaching kids to read.
It means we live in a loving community with people willing to donate to support the non-profits that fuel so much good in our community.
This event raises awareness - in addition to raising millions - for the neediest in Georgetown County.
Many generous individuals come together to support organizations on Palmetto Giving Day, and you can be one of them.
You should be one of them.
Every dollar makes a difference.
Head to the the Palmetto Giving Day website, choose your favorite non-profit or search by cause, and make your donation.
Be a part of something that truly makes a collective impact today in our community.

P.S. Don’t have a favorite cause yet? If you’re on the fence about a non-profit to support, consider the YMCA of Coastal Carolina. I am the Chief Development Officer for the Y, and I have this role because I 1000% believe in the mission. The Y is on a mission to teach all kids to swim, help cancer patients live strong through their treatment, host the coolest summer camps and after school programs where kids are learning while having a blast, let all kids in our community be on a team and play sports, and so much more. Anyone can be a member + participate in Y programs, even if they cannot afford it because donations to the Y cover the costs. No one is turned away. ❤️
