Weekend List: an Italian rec, Snow Day history, and a few Shag-inspired events
It's snow exciting, y'all
Snow Days
Our Coastal Carolina area hasn’t seen this much snow in decades!
When you think of Myrtle Beach, snow probably isn’t the first thing that comes to mind. Sunny skies, sandy shores, and balmy breezes? Absolutely. But snowflakes? Rarely. That’s what makes these snowfalls so significant—and, dare we say, a little magical. (And let’s be honest, they also bring traffic and daily activities—like school—to a screeching halt!)
According to WPDE, we unofficially received 5 inches of snow.
For anyone who grew up in places where snow is a normal winter occurrence, 5 inches might not seem all that noteworthy. But here in the Grand Strand? Anything over an inch is practically front-page news.
Our friends at WBTW broke down the top 10 largest snowfalls to ever grace Myrtle Beach, and the record-breaking event was back in December 1989, when a whopping 14 inches blanketed the area. Let that sink in—14 inches! For a region where winter usually means T-shirts and sunshine, that’s basically a blizzard.
But this recent 5-inch snowfall? It earns a spot on the historic list, tied for fifth and sixth place. So yes, this truly was a rare and memorable event for Myrtle Beach!
Stay safe and warm, y’all. ❄️
DINE
Plan: Happy Hour for Dinner
Why: When your bedtime is closer to 9 p.m. than midnight, happy hour is the perfect way to enjoy a fun night out without staying out late. It's all the perks of going out—delicious food, great drinks, and good vibes—wrapped up in an early evening package.
Where to Go:
Aspen Grille: Fancy Carolina cuisine meets a cool bar scene.
Swig & Swine: Craft beers and mouthwatering BBQ in a laid-back atmosphere.
Flaming Fin: Sip rosé while savoring sushi rolls in style.
Crave: Cozy up with a glass of wine by the fireplace at this newly opened spot.
(🎥 Don’t miss our YouTube video for more details!)

Italian Wine Night
Go: Luigi’s Trattoria Italian Restaurant
Why: Italian wine loves Italian food, and Luigi’s superb service, excellent wine list, and exceptional food make this a spot to add to your regular restaurant rotation.
Order: Peppoli Chianti Classico by one of the oldest family-owned businesses (and, one of the oldest winemakers, too!) in the world, Marchesi Antinori, offers a rustic complexity that’s simply irresistible. It pairs perfectly with the savory flavors of sausage ravioli bathed in a creamy tomato sauce and the rich, herbaceous notes of chicken Saltimbocca.
