This week, a little something different than the regular weekend list: here’s a Carolina Road Trips highlight. hope you enjoy!
A few weeks ago… our family took a road trip Atlanta and had the BEST time - on the way there, while we were there, and then on the way back…
Atlanta is about six hours from Myrtle Beach. It’s always tempting on a road trip to put the pedal to the metal and just drive straight and true and fast as the wind to get home.
Instead, we have adopted a policy to stop rather than drive through.
This road trip mentality has led to places like Skipper’s Fish Camp in Georgia, Big Al’s Pub and Grub in North Carolina, Glamping in Tipis in Virginia.
All more memorable than a Taco Bell drive through.
Road stops have become a part of the vacation!
TO Atlanta / Mill Pond Steakhouse Stop

On our visit to Atlanta from Myrtle Beach, we went down a dark road in the middle of seemingly nowhere South Carolina and arrived at fine dining establishment Mill Pond Steakhouse.
Steakhouse fans, y’all need to try this place.
Nestled just outside Camden, South Carolina—a small town with a population of 8,431 (thank you, Google)—this steakhouse is a destination that’s truly hidden but may be the best in SC.
We over ordered all the sides and the steaks were cooked to perfection. This is an experience. Make your reservation - you will not be disappointed.

IN Atlanta / Downtown
here’s a little video of our adventures in Atlanta watching pro soccer -
We stayed at the Marriott Marquis in Downtown Atlanta, went to the World of Coca Cola, watched Miami lose to a thunderous Atlanta United crowd and everyone but my hard-core soccer fan daughter was Ok with the loss because the experience was SO. MUCH. FUN.
FROM Atlanta / Old Mill Brew Pub in Lexington, SC Stop

On our trip from Atlanta to Myrtle Beach, we discovered Lexington, South Carolina and Old Mill Brew Pub.
It was the perfect stop on the way home!
The service was friendly, fast, and welcoming. We didn’t feel rushed or delayed, and had a great time enjoying our craft beers and food. Our kids walked around the lake while we sipped on our beers. Can you get better than that for a road trip stop!?

A final word of advice….
Take an hour to discover a small town and a local restaurant rather than rush through a drive-through.
It’s worth extending the arrival time.
🥂 cheers, ya’ll!
